Concert

Please join me and the players of Random Access Music to hear my new work Syzygy for Bass Clarinet and electronic loopers.

Sept. 28 at 7pm at Graham Studio Theater
Sept. 29 at 7pm at Secret Theatre

This work grows out of my love for astronomy. When NASA began publishing the amazing photos of the most poweful telescope yet designed, the James Webb Space Telescope, I was hooked like I was at 9 years old by star gazing.

Syzygy is the term for the alignment of celestial bbodies. A solar eclipse is a syzygy of earth, sun, aand moon. My work uses the ideas of musical themes revolving at different speeds (appearances) around a single motive that stays in place–repeating over and over–while the other motives return at different intervals. The work piles up 7 heavenly bodies by the end.
